My name is Linda and I live in Cambridgeshire, my husband Ray is into flying model
planes, we have 4 sons & 7th grandchild on the way we have as pets Macaws that
my husband bred, a rottwieler called Lucy, a moggie called Crazycat, my son has
2 cats called Jin & Tonic, and I have started to breed Ragdolls as a hobby,
They are so loving and laid back they love every one. and get on well with all our other animals. they love to be pampered by us all they look @ you with those Big Blue eyes and you just melt! I started with one as a pet, but loved the breed so much I decided to buy some more to breed with, So i went out and bought 4 queens and 1 stud, which was not as easy as it sound!. I now have 1 Blue Point Queen, 1 Chocolate Point Queen, 2 Seal Point Queens, 1 Red Point Stud, and 1 Tortie Girl. All our babies are born in our home under foot with our other pets. These are wonderful indoor lap cats and should NEVER be aloud to roam free, as they are not like the normal cats that are street wise. My cats have my home to roam and Enclosed insulated outside runs so they are always in a safe environment. These beautiful cats are so laid back and very friendly, 1 reason they should never roam free, as they will go to anyone or anything, & could be harmed or stolen. they can also get very big when they have been neutered, upto 20lb for the boys, The first Ragdoll cat was bred by Ann Baker in California in the early 1960`s, there was a Feral cat called Josephine, living in a conoly on her neighbors property, story has it, that josephine was involved in a car accident, after being nursed back to health Ann noticed how layed back her kittens were, she then obtained a female kitten from josephine and called her Buckwheat, her neighbor also had 1 of her kittens a male, called Daddy Warbucks, Ann then had 1 of his daughters from Josephine (Fugianna) who was the first bicolour Ragdoll, thats how Ann established the new breed,(Ragdolls) In 1981 two ladies from Norfolk Pat Brownsell and the late Lulu Rowley, bought the first of the ragdolls into britain. Pat bought a chocolate bicolour male called Blossom Time Proper, and a Seal colourpoint female, called Blossom Time Prim, Lulu bought a Seal colourpoint male called Blossom Time Lad, and a seal mitted female called, Blossom Time Lass, That was the start of these beautiful cats being bred in the UK, In 1993 the GCCF created a Semi-longhair group, and the Ragdoll was transferred to this appropriate group. These breed of cats are very affectionate and loving, they love to be fussed and laze about on your lap, and follow you like little lost sheep, it is said and it is true, that they are known as dogs in cats bodies, I have outside runs, so that my cats can play safely altogether in the fresh air Our first kitten our Tortie girl slept with us, and it was so funny, as she slept, my husband woke me to say he had killed her by laying on her, (not so funny you are thinking) he was poking and prodding her but she never moved! but I new that when they sleep they SLEEP! she did eventualy open 1 eye, as if to say, leave me to sleep please! with his relief he went back to sleep as well, Bless! haha. Once you are Owned by a Ragdoll you just have to have more, WARNING!!!! THESE RAGDOLLS ARE VERY ADDICTIVE!!!! |
